A neuropeptide is provided to be isolated from a body tissue of Eptatretus burgeri and have the contraction activity on smooth muscle of the Eptatretus burgeri, thereby being useful as a candidate material for developing a new drug. A neuropeptide with smooth muscle contraction activity has a primary structure including a D-amino acid extracted and purified from a body tissue of Eptatretus burgeri and is characterized in that the amino acid sequence is represented by Val-Gly-Gly-D-Phe-Gly-Ser-Ser-D-Ala-His-Trp-NH2.
