PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK(PON) COMPRISING OPTICAL LINK PROTECTION APPARATUS AND METHOD OF PROTECTING OPTICAL LINK IN THE SAME PON

A PON comprising an optical link protection apparatus and a method for protecting an optical link in the PON are provided to include a duplexing splitter board in an OLT system to duplex a PON link by hardware, thereby quickly detecting that an error occurs in a long optical line section between the OLT system and splitters and a short optical line section between the splitters and an ONU/ONT system to switch the PON link to a backup route. An OLT(Optical Line Terminal)(100) has a passive duplexing splitter module(140) linked with the master interface of a PON(Passive Optical Network) for duplexing the optical link of the PON by hardware. A splitter unit(142) has a first splitter(200a) and a second splitter(200b) which are connected to the passive duplexing splitter module to distribute the optical link into the ratio of 1 to N. An ONU/ONT(Optical Network Unit/Optical Network Terminal) unit(300I-1,300I-2) includes plural ONU/ONTs which have a first slave optical module connected to the first splitter and a second slave optical module connected to the second splitter respectively.
