A system and a control method for automatic core tracking using a core tracking camera and a laser displacement sensor are provided to perform automatic welding core tracking by following the current position of a welding torch, improve the output and reduce the required manpower by preventing welding flaws, and carry out automatic core tracking and height adjustment by sending a motor control signal from a core tracking controller to a PLC(Programmable Logic Controller) using ethernet communication. An automatic core tracking system using a core tracking camera and a laser displacement sensor comprises: a manual operating panel(10) including a joystick(11); a main panel(20) which is connected to the manual operating panel by a digital cable(12), and which includes a PLC module(21), a first motor drive(22), and a second motor drive(23); an IPC(Inter-Process Communication) panel(30) connected to the main panel by an ethernet cable(24); a core tracking camera(40) connected to the IPC panel by a camera signal cable(41); a laser displacement sensor(50) connected to the IPC panel by a laser signal cable(51); and a monitor panel(60) which is connected to the IPC panel by a monitor signal cable(61), and which includes a monitor(62). The first motor drive is connected to a first servo motor(25) by a first motor cable(251), and the second motor drive is connected to a second servo motor(26) by a second motor cable(261). The IPC panel includes a core tracking controller(31) for transmitting a motor control signal to the PLC module. The monitor panel additionally includes a core tracking operating panel(63) that is capable of being selectively converted into an automatic or manual mode.
