A system for recovering an OS and data in real time at occurrence of a system failure by performing backup of the OS and the data in real time and a control method thereof are provided to enable a user to avoid various types of damage, like a virus, hacking or a user fault, without individual backup of data and to use a computer without downtime by enabling a server to perform real time data backup and recovery of the client computer. A system for recovering an OS and data in real time comprises a server(102) and a database(104). The server(102) performs real time data backup for a client computer over the internet. The database(104) stores the backup data transmitted by the server(102), and transmits recovery data to the server(1020) when damaged data is recovered. The server(102) includes a communication unit, a controller, a backup program module, and a recovery program module. The communication unit makes communication with a client computer over the internet. The controller controls each component according to an instruction of an administrator. The backup program module transmits a backup program to the client computer, receives backup data in real time from the client according to operation of the transmitted backup program, and stores the backup data at the database(104). The recovery program module transmits a recovery program to the client computer, checks the client computer in real time according to operation of the recovery program, and recovers damaged data by using the backup data stored at the database(104) in case that there exists the damaged data in the client computer.
