A channel auto search method of a cable TV is provided to generate a channel list which is watched for cable frequency tables tuned in each channel when an auto channel search command is set for shortening the channel search time without operating the channel by a user. Multiple frequency tables are channel-tuned sequentially during a channel auto search mode, and the channels are channel-tuned sequentially(S101). The information of the frequency tables and the channels having synchronous signals is stored when tuning the channel(S109). The frequency tables include STD, HRC, and IRC frequency table. The channel tuning is made in one frequency table when the frequency includes the same channel, and the channel tuning is made in multiple frequency tables when the frequency includes different channels(S103,106).
