CROSS-LINKING AGENT FOR POLYVINYL ALCOHOL, POLYVINYL ALCOHOL PRODUCTS AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A crosslinking agent for crosslinking a hydrophilic polymer containing a hydroxyl group, a method for preparing a poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA) product by using the crosslinking agent, and a PVA product prepared by the method are provided to improve environmental friendliness and to allow the solubility in water to be controlled. A crosslinking agent for crosslinking a hydrophilic polymer containing a hydroxyl group comprises the aluminum acetate which is stabilized with boric acid, wherein the amount of boric acid is 1/3 mol per 1 mol of aluminum acetate. Preferably the hydrophilic polymer containing a hydroxyl group is selected from the group consisting of poly(vinyl alcohol), cellulose, cellulose derivatives, starch, chitosan and polysaccharide.
