An electric spot welding apparatus with a function of automatically sensing a welding width is provided to accurately confirm if an electric spot welding operation has been performed well by automatically sensing with of the terminal varied during welding at the same time when mounting the component on the terminal by electric spot welding a lead type component to a terminal of a cooling fan controller body. An electric spot welding apparatus with a function of automatically sensing a welding width comprises: a supporting frame(40) installed at one side of a transfer conveyor(10) for transferring a body(20) having a terminal(21) formed on an inner part thereof in a state that a lead tip(31) of a lead type component(30) is placed on the terminal; a robot part(R) including a Y-axis bar(60) placed on a top face of the supporting frame, and an X-axis bar(50) straightly moved in a state that the X-axis bar is placed on the Y-axis bar in a "T" character shape; a welding part(W) including a transfer base plate, a first hydraulic cylinder, a welding base plate, left and right moving plates, a second hydraulic cylinder, and left and right welding tips; a displacement sensor formed on a top part of the welding base plate to sense moving displacements of sensor terminals contacted during horizontal movement of the left and right moving plates; and a control part for receiving the displacements of the left and right moving plates sensed by the displacement sensor to generate control signals such that electric currents applied to the left and right welding tips are turned on or off, and determining whether the control signals are within a tolerance range of a pre-inputted reference displacement width.
