Method and Apparatus for providing the board status to the main processor by using IPMI messages over the AdvancedTCA system

A method and a device for providing board status information in an ATCA(Advanced Telecom Computing Architecture) system by using an IPMI(Intelligent Platform Management Interface) message are provided to offer smooth interworking among different system makers or function modules without adding/modifying hardware while following ATCA rules by using the IPMI message. A main processor(802) periodically requests hardware status information of each board included in an ATCA system or processes the collected hardware status information. An IPMC(Intelligent Protocol Management Controller)(804) transmits a hardware status information request received from the main processor to each board in an IPMI message style, receives the hardware status information of each board, and provides the received hardware status information to the main processor. A CPLD(Complex Programmable Logic Device) or FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array)(803) transfers the hardware status information request of the main processor to the IPMC between the main processor and the IPMC, and transfers the hardware status information received from the IPMC to the main processor.
