FIELD: heavy-current electronics.;SUBSTANCE: in accordance to the invention, method for generation of heavy-current bunches of fast electrons in gas-filled acceleration space includes acceleration of electrons emitted from cathode by impulse electric filed and ejection of generated electron bunch through anode of acceleration space. The acceleration space is filled with gas under atmospheric pressure, in which by means of local short term heating an area of reduced gas concentration is created, in contact with cathode. Accelerating voltage impulse is injected after restoration of electric strength of gas in that area, but not after its temperature relaxation time. To create local area of reduced gas concentration either a laser torch or an additional electric spark may be used.;EFFECT: increased reliability and increased service life.;4 cl, 1 dwg
