A process for the preparation of a layer composite from a cold-work steel and a metallic base body by sintering, characterised by the following method steps:a) the use of a prealloyed, melt cold work steel powder, wherein the powder grains of a size of 200 μm, as well as an oxygen content of & have 0,006%,b) application of the cold work steel powder to which are to be coated, solid parent body, wherein the cold work steel powder covalently, ionically or metallically bonded hard materials are added,c) complete compaction by means of a sintering process, with the participation of a liquid phase which, as a result of the partial melting of the cold work steel powder is produced there, without that a complete melting and resolidification occurs.
