The method involves contacting a material web (4) with a heated drum (1) for maintaining the drum with a temperature. The material web is dried to make the temperature lower than a boiling temperature of a liquid. The drum is subjected with a gas flow, which has another temperature higher than the former temperature. The former temperature lies between 50 to 70 degree centigrade. The latter temperature lies between 120 to 180 degree centigrade. An independent claim is also included for a device for drying a material web e.g. plastic foil.
