The adapter (3) has a device (15) for withdrawing power from the rail and for the transmitting the power to a socket (35) for an illuminant (30). The socket is arranged at the adapter. The adapter housing and socket housing lie proximate to one another. The adapter and the socket are formed as a connection unit (1), particularly as a one-piece connection unit. The socket has two hubs (33,34) for the retaining of illuminant contacts (31,32), particularly in two bases (4,5).
