The method involves determining a cylinder-specific actual value for a fuel amount injected into a cylinder based on two extremes of a pressure signal of a pressure sensor (180), where the extremes are formed within a crank angle interval. The pressure sensor is arranged in an exhaust gas section (120) of an internal combustion engine (100), and actuators (151-154) e.g. piezoactuators, are provided for controlling a fuel delivery control phase in the cylinder of the engine. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computer program for executing a method for operating an internal combustion engine (2) an electronic memory for storing a computer program (3) a control device for an internal combustion engine.
