The device has a surface plate for supporting a machine part, where a surface of the surface plate has a groove into which a nut piece, that adjustably receives a stationary catch, is fixedly arranged in a desired position. Another groove of the surface plate has a longitudinal axis aligned with the former groove. A slide (15) is linearly led along the longitudinal axis and is freely and movably supported in the latter groove with respect to the longitudinal axis. The slide is supported by two parallel roller bearing guides (37, 39).
