Production of composite plastic moldings with decorative sheet coatings, as furnishing or cladding materials, first molds sheet in one plane, then over-injects plastic mass in another
Production of composite plastic moldings with decorative sheet coatings, as furnishing or cladding materials, first molds sheet in one plane, then over-injects plastic mass in another
Sheet material is inlaid between the mold halves (3a, 3b; 5a, 5b) in a first working plane (A). The halves are closed, deforming the material. They are re-opened at the first plane. The preformed sheet material is introduced into a second working plane (B). Plasticized molding mass is injected onto the preform, in the second plane. The composite plastic molding is extracted. Over-injection in the second working plane, takes place simultaneously or sequentially with preforming of the sheet material in the first working plane. During over-injection, the plasticized mass is introduced into a pre-enlarged molding cavity and the mold halves are closed together after or before ending the introduction. Alternatively for over-injection, the mold halves are first closed, the mass is injected into the opening mold halves and before or after the end of injection, they are re-closed. During the first closure which preforms the sheet material, a surface structure is formed on its outer surface, by a suitably-textured mold surface. Also at this stage, the sheet material is subjected to compressed air and/or reduced pressure. An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR the corresponding injection molding machine.
