Diagnosis of motor mechanical settings, e.g. crankshaft angle and fuel injectors, uses acoustic signals to derive values for comparison with reference values to establish a drift for correction
To operate an internal combustion motor, with mechanical systems to adjust the valve timing and/or fuel injection, an acoustic signal (KS) is established to derive a value (KW1,KW2) characteristic of the actual fuel injector or crankshaft angle settings. The values are compared with threshold values, to establish if there is a drift for correction. The process is run while the motor is running and stationary.
