Opto-electronic method for characterizing e.g. paper surface, involves providing spectrum, which arises by integration of defined measuring section, and determining roughness of paper surface by width of spectral distribution
The method involves providing a spectrum, which arises by integration of a defined measuring section, and is evaluated regarding its form. Width of the spectral distribution determines the roughness of a paper surface. Statements about the quality of the roughness profile are derived from a form and asymmetry of the spectral distribution of a sum spectrum. LEDs (12) are used as a light source, whose single spectra co-ordinate with each other such that a continuous spectral profile is achieved with defined spectral width. An independent claim is also included for an opto-electronic device.
