The pump (1) has an inlet line (19) connected with a cylinder chamber (12) of a drive head (11) for receiving compressed gas from a gas line (18). The drive head is designed as a single-acting gas drive e.g. membrane drive, such that only a pressure stroke side of the drive head is connected with the inlet line through a control valve (20) when a delivery stroke side of the drive head is connected with an outlet line (21) at a time period. A compression spring (17) is arranged in the delivery stroke side and affects a delivery stroke on a drive part (14) in a preset direction. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a gas-operated drive.
