The control unit (26) has a bridge circuit (14) with four switching units and secured by a fuse (12) against a voltage source (10). One of the switching unit is controlled corresponding to the defect of two switching units in the bridge circuit in such a manner that the voltage source is short circuited by a half bridge. The fuse separates a connection of a direct current motor (24) with the voltage source.
