The melt distributor (8) supplied from the melt line (1), has a metering unit (16) operating passively. This ensures even distribution of the melt stream supplied, into fractional streams. The distributor is independent of flow resistances acting upon these fractional streams. One or more metering pumps (2) are used between the supply line (1) and the melt distributor(s) (8) to dose the melt in each stream. A further melt line (5) carries the melt to the melt distributor (8). The metering pump is outside the unit. A nozzle assembly (7) follows the melt distributors in the direction of flow, where numerous nozzle outlet openings extrude one or more bundles of filaments (12). The number of filament bundles exceeds the number of melt lines (5). Each bundle is associated with a fractional melt stream. The metering unit (16) is formed by a moveable displacer for each fractional melt stream. The melt displacers are mechanically coupled. They are formed by the teeth of meshing gear wheels (16, 17). The metering unit (16) is integrated into the nozzle assembly (7).
