The device has an operable transmission unit (2) impinged by a cam (1) of a cam shaft of an internal-combustion engine, where the cam acts on a gas exchange valve (3) of the internal-combustion engine. The transmission unit has operable lever parts (5, 6) coupled with each other, whose transmission surfaces (10, 11) are subjected by different cam profiles. The lever parts are designed in a partial plastic deformable manner, and exhibit definite deformable positions. An independent claim is also included for a method for minimizing play in a valve drive of an internal-combustion engine.
