Stretching unit delay controlling involves implementing an adaption of a specified value (RP) for regulation application point (REP) in production phase of a textile machine (1). The specified value is obtained from a determined adjusting value (ERP) and a correction value (deltaRP). The correction value is determined from a value (MEG,GM,GM',SEG), corresponding with an arrival speed (EG) of fiber quantity (FG) supplied to a stretching unit (5), and also from another value (MLG,SLG) corresponding with output speed (LG) of the fiber quantity (FG-ab) removed from the stretching unit. An independent claim is also included for a short stacked fiber processing textile machine, particularly spinning machine such as a ring spinning, rotor spinning machine or a spinning preparation machine, which comprises a carding engine and a drawing frame with a stretching unit.
