The wheel bearing unit (1) has two separate bearing outer rings (2a, 2b) and bearing inner rings (3a, 3b). Tapered roller bearings (5) are radially arranged between the outer and inner rings related to each other. The bearing outer rings are supported relative to each other in an axial direction by an intermediate ring (6). The inner rings are axially directly arranged adjacent to each other and supported axially against each other. The bearing outer rings or inner rings have retaining boards (9a, 9b) at the front side of the wheel bearing unit.
