The tappet (1a) has a tappet housing (2) with a rolling chamber (5) and a tappet skirt (3) supported in a hollow cylindrical guide (4), and a roller (6) arranged in the chamber, where an outer shell surface (7) of the roller is driven by a pump cam (12) of a cam shaft (11). A cross-hole (15) is provided for supplying lubricant to the shell surface and to a bearing surface (9), where the chamber is connected to a lubricant supply channel (19) over the hole. The skirt has an outer annular groove (14) that connects the cross hole with the supply channel.
