Composite mold component, obtained by a decorative molding using in-mold injection-, in-mold embossing-, in-mold lamination- or in-mold injection embossing- techniques, comprises a metal or wood-like layer as a decorative layer (2), a base material (3) with an open structure, which is bound to the decorative layer by a cross-linked adhesive layer (5), and a plastic material, which is connected to the base material to form a composite-like material acting preferably as a rigid carrier. Composite mold component, which is produced by a decorative molding using in-mold injection-, in-mold embossing-, in-mold lamination- or in-mold injection embossing- techniques, comprises a metal or wood-like layer as a decorative layer (2), a base material (3) with an open structure, which is bound to the decorative layer by a cross-linked adhesive layer (5), and a plastic material, which is connected to the base material to form a composite-like material acting preferably as a rigid carrier, where the base material exhibits a weight per unit area of at least 50 g/m2, preferably 60 g/m2. An independent claim is included for the preparation of the composite mold component comprising inserting the decorative layer and base material layer in a tool, contacting the layers with the molten plastic material, where the cross-linkable adhesive layer is cross-linked by the temperature of the introduced plastic material, and finally shaping the composite mold component.
