Satinizing part e.g. ornament made of material having Vickers hardness, comprises treating surface of part, fixing part to holder, and submitting part and abrasive tool to relative movement so that surface is in contact with active portion
The process for satinizing a part such as watch, jewellery and ornament made of a material having a Vickers hardness of greater than 1000 Hv, comprises treating a surface (16) of the part, fixing the part to a holder (10), and submitting the part and an abrasive tool (14) to a relative movement so that the surface is in contact with an active portion (23) over a portion of the paths of the part and the abrasive tool to form grooves that are substantially parallel to one another on the surface. The active portion consists of aggregates. The active portion consists of aggregates, which form regularly distributed patterns on a substrate (22). The abrasive tool comprises substrate, active portion fastened to the substrate, an abrasive belt formed of a flexible tape constituting the substrate and the active portion, two guide rollers tightly mounted on the tape, and a symmetric cylindrical support fixed on the tape. The paths of the part and the particles describe the planes (P1, P2, P3). The abrasive tool is formed from calibrated diamond grit particles agglomerated using a metal and a ceramic binder. The patterns are arranged in staggered rows on the substrate, where the patterns are in circular pill form. An independent claim is included for an ornament part.
