The method involves attaching a light alloy wheel (1) of a motor vehicle to a conveyor, and detecting a position of a valve body bore (10) in the wheel by using a camera. The detected position is transmitted to a controller of a robot. A sealing element (11) is automatically inserted into the valve body bore by using the robot, and the sealing element is manufactured from a rubber elastic material. The wheel is pressurized and pressure tested, and the sealing element is removed. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for leakage test of a light alloy wheel of a motor vehicle (2) a rotationally symmetric sealing element.
