The device has a pair of measuring units (10) for respectively measuring a pair of signals (19), where one of the signals characterises a slippage and/or loading between a Bowden cable and a traction sheave, and the other signal characterises an electrical operating parameter of a drivetrain. An evaluation device produces a signal on the basis of the signal, which characterises the electrical operating parameter of the drivetrain, for measuring the driving efficiency and/or load of the lift system. An independent claim is also included for a method for examining a driving efficiency and/or a load condition of a lift system.
