The method involves regulating energy flow (Ep) necessary for operation of a pump (12) by a solar module (14) and a battery (16) in two operating conditions, respectively. The energy flow is regulated by the solar module and the battery in another operating condition. The energy flow is de-energized to the pump when the energy flow to the pump falls below a threshold value. The threshold value represents the energy flow, which is smaller than a maximum allowable energy flow to the pump. An independent claim is also included for a solar-operable device with a solar-operable pump.
