The method involves transmitting a parameter for encoding an operating channel and for configuration of the operating channel over a transmission channel, and replying a wireless access point with a confirmation message. The parameter for installation of the operating channel is transmitted by the access point if a terminal supports the encoding. The configuration is discontinued, and the transmission channel is closed if the terminal does not support the encoding. The operating channel is configured with the encoding. An independent claim is also included for an arrangement for execution of a method of configuration of a local radio network.
