An optical contact switch has a light source (1) and light receiver (2) which is sensitive to the transmitted radiation, in which the light source and receiver form a surface-mount device (SMD) component under a radiation-transparent cover. The light source and receiver are arranged on a laminar support (9), so that on the edges over the surrounding (5) of the laminar support are provided a circuit board for contacting SMD components, and on the laminar support electric conductor paths (10) are provided to electrically join the light source and the light receiver to the SMD contacts (8).
