The method involves detecting a motor phase (X) as a current measuring value by using an offset-free sensor in a cyclic manner. An offset-adjustment process that involves determination of signal processing path-offset is effected at a time point for the motor phase as the detection of the current measuring value. The detection of the current measuring value is not directly carried out by using the offset-free sensor in a consumer load current supply unit and/or a source current dissipation unit. An independent claim is also included for a circuit for executing a method for measuring phase current.
