The wind energy plant (10) comprises a wind speed measuring device is provided for determining speed of wind streaming to the energy plant. The measuring device has a measuring element (5,6,7) with a fiber optic cable, which is provided with an optical sensor, and an electrical heating element. The fiber optic cable is subjected to heat by the heating element, where the light signal injected into the fiber optic cable is influenced to the temperature depending upon the speed at the place of the optical sensor. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for determining a wind velocity of wind energy plant (2) an arrangement for the execution of the method.
