The electrochromic active formulation has an electrochromic active chromophore, a redox partner in a matrix, a white pigment and a solvent. The formulation is partially polymerized. A bi-functional additive is added for a cross-linking. The additive comprises a methoxy or an ethoxy group, a boric acid, boric acid derivative and hydrolyzed alkoxy groups, which consist of an unsaturated functional group X. The additive comprises an alkoxy derivative of an element Silicon, Titanium, Aluminum, Indium or Tin. An independent claim is also included for a method for producing a partially cross-linking electrochromic formulation.
