The method involves determining an acceleration of a vehicle (1) in a direction of an axis by using a residual acceleration sensor (2), where the axis is orthogonal to a vertical axis of the vehicle. Speed of the vehicle in the direction of respective axes is determined by using a sensor (15). A yaw rate of the vehicle is detected by using a yaw rate sensor (16), and a temporal conduction of one speed is determined. An absolute inclination angle of the vehicle is determined based on the acceleration, the temporal conduction of the speed and the yaw rate. An independent claim is also included for a device for an absolute inclination determination of a vehicle.
