The component has a plate-shaped component (6) arranged as a protective layer on an outer surface (3) of a bodywork component (2). A through-hole (7) is formed in the plate-shaped component, and an insert (8) is arranged in the through-hole. An illuminant e.g. electroluminescence foil, is provided at an upper side (9) of the insert, which is illuminated by the illuminant. A film and/or a layer are provided at the upper side of the insert, and are provided with a backlit section (26). The plate-shaped component is produced from stainless steel.
