The device has a sensor for converting a value (Se) of a physical measured variable into an electrical measuring signal (Sa). A subtracting stage (2) forms a shifted measuring signal (Sa`) by adjusting the electrical signal. A comparison device (5) compares the shifted signal with a threshold value. A shift signal generating device (6) generates a shift signal (Sk) based on the comparison. The subtracting stage shifts the electrical signal using the shift signal and forms a difference signal between the electrical and shift signals. An independent claim is also included for a method for shifting a measuring value detection range of a sensory measuring device.
