The exchange terminal (1a) has a control (5a), two communication components (7b,9b), a changing unit (11a) to change over the exchange terminal from a mode of operation with an analog connection (41a) to another mode of operation with the integrated services digital network connection (42a). Both the communication components have a common hardware component of the exchange terminal. The change means needs activated function for the respective mode of operation of the exchange terminal and not deactivated function.
