The pumping unit has an outlet (2.2) which is provided in a first quadrant (26) with relation to the inlet cross section (2.1) and the tapering of the inlet channel (2) occur in the other three quadrants (27,28,29). The tapering wall of the inlet channel (2) is formed by a plane-generating shape (35) which goes around from one side (33) of the outlet (2.2) to the other side (32) of the outlet (2.2) and is shaped to be increasingly flat relative to a plane of the outlet (2.2).
