The engine has a water cooling system with a lower temperature circuit (10), where a low temperature cooler (12) and a water-cooled charge air cooler (16) are arranged in the low temperature circuit. A water-cooled exhaust gas turbo charger (22) is additionally arranged parallel to the water-cooled charge air cooler in the low temperature circuit. An electrical cooling pump (14) is arranged in the lower temperature circuit, and the charge air cooler is designed as a plat heat exchanger.
