The device has a paper sheet guiding cylinder (3) that is provided with a counter cutting unit (9) and a gripper channel (6). A circular cutter is assigned to the guiding cylinder. A filler piece (8) is arranged in an effective area of the circular cutter in the gripper channel of the guiding cylinder, where the filler piece supplements a casing contour of the guiding cylinder. The filler piece has an opening in an axis direction of the guiding cylinder for feed-through of a gripper shaft (7), where the filler piece is made of metal, hard rubber or hard plastic.
