The method involves fastening an adapter (101) at parts of a washing machine before functional testing of a heater. A contact device (102) e.g. plug (107), of the adapter is connected with a bridging contact for a level of a water level regulator (112) before the functional testing, and is again removed after the functional testing. A testing robot is attached at a testing surface (106) of the adapter, where the testing surface is electrically connected with the contact device. An independent claim is also included for adapters for use during functional testing of a heater of a washing machine.
