The cell has a set of single cell units (3), which are supplied by a gas flow comprising hydrogen and a gas flow comprising oxygen. Each single cell unit includes a cathode (19) and an anode (25). The cathode and anode are separated from each other by a membrane unit (23). A heat exchanger is integrated in one of the single cell units, where the heat in the exchanger is generated by an exothermic chemical reaction. An independent claim is also included for a method of heating a set of single cell units of a fuel cell.
