The mechanism has a locking unit (24) arranged at a hinged platform gate (10), which is accommodated in a closing position of the platform gate in a recess of a retaining post (12). A bolt (26) is guided between a stand by position of a lock and an unlocking position at the post. A spring arrangement (34) is provided for prestressing the bolt in the standby position of the lock. A controllable bolt operating cylinder (40) i.e. hydraulic cylinder, moves the bolt in the unlocking position against the prestressing of the arrangement. An independent claim is also included for a load transport vehicle comprising a hydraulic system.
