The method involves changing an electrical parameter (UB) during an operation of internal combustion engine from an initial value (U0), with which no injection is set, until a defined injection amount is injected. The value, which is adjusted with the defined injection quantity, is assigned as a value (U1) to the parameter of the defined injection quantity. The parameter is changed in such a manner that another defined injection amount is injected. The value, which is adjusted with the latter defined injection amount, is assigned as another value (U2) to the parameter. An independent claim is also included for a computer program comprising instructions to perform a method for determining characteristic diagram of injection amount.
