The pipe (1) has a gap (5) formed between inner and outer shells (2, 3) and limited by a closing element (4) e.g. flange. An inner flow region (7) is formed between the inner shell and the element. Reference surfaces (10, 11) are arranged concentric to each other, where the surface (10) is greater than the surface (11). The surface (10) is set from a projection of an exhaust area of the inner shell to a projection plane that is arranged transverse to an exhaust gas flow through the area. The other surface (11) is set from a projection of a surface encircled by the element to the plane.
