The machine has a shaping head (8) carrying a shaping tool (7), where the shaping head is movable transverse to a shaping direction for adjusting and lifting the shaping tool at workpiece. A direct drive (3) i.e. brushless torque-motor, is provided for moving the shaping drive transverse to the shaping direction. The direct drive drives an eccentric shaft (1), which moves the shaping head over an intermediate lever (2). A measuring system (4) is arranged at the direct drive and monitors the movement of the direct drive. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing or processing gear wheels with a roller shaping machine.
