The method involves metallizing a magneto-elastic nickel ring (14) made from a magnetoelastic material on a section of a substrate. Plastic deformation of the substrate is performed to provide a desired load anisotropy to the material. An axial load is applied on the substrate. The load applies a compressive force on the substrate. The material defines a section made from nickel. The substrate defines a crenated diameter within which the material is metallized. The anisotropy has loads that are oriented in a circumferential direction in the material, to produce a magnetic light axle (28). An independent claim is also included for a torque sensor arrangement comprising a substrate.
