The protection device has a covering cap, a retaining hook and a locking pin, where the covering cap and the retaining hook are connected with each other using a screw or rivet. The protection device is firmly connected with a watch housing side through the retaining hook. The locking pin holds the covering cap closed in a closed condition of a clamping mechanism. The covering cap covers and surrounds a watch pusher or a watch crown. The opening of the clamping mechanism of the watch pusher or a watch crown is released for operating the wrist watch.
