The spanner (1) has a fixed jaw (3) formed at an end of a handle (2). A movable jaw (4) is displaced towards the fixed jaw over a gilding plane for changing width between the jaws. A guiding cylinder of a cylinder bore of the movable jaw is enclosed in an opening position by extending a rear contour of a section towards a contour edge of the spanner. A hammer-driving surface is arranged in a pathway of the section, where a radius of the surface is greater than that of the edge. The surface is formed such that a basic form of the spanner is not changed, and is geometrically emphasized.
